Carnegie thinks that most Fifers just want their local amenities run well and an assurance that they will be accessible when they want to use them and at a price they can afford. Whether they are council or privately owned, or indeed owned by a council established trust, probably isn't the critical issue.
"COUNCILLORS refused to rule out the sale of council-owned golf courses as they approved long-term plans for investment in Fife’s sports facilities. Members of the housing and communities committee formally agreed a proposed sports facilities strategy which will help shape how money should be spent on sports centres, swimming pools, pitches and other sporting venues across Fife over the next 10 years."
Strange to see Fife's Labour Councillors making such a big issue of keeping golf courses in public ownership. Strange issue to go to the barricades over.
