Carnegie was glad to read that Fife Council is trying to look after the long-term health of Fife's town centres.
"THE results of a major study into what people think of Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Dunfermline and St Andrews have been published by Fife Council. A range of questions about the town centres were put to 1000 visitors and 300 businesses, including what they thought of shops, leisure facilities and the appearance of the towns. The study’s findings will help to shape planning by the council and town centre management companies over the next three years. The results will also link to the council’s priorities of improving local conditions for economic development, improving sport, leisure and cultural opportunities, and becoming a top performing local authority."
Fife has some great shopping streets and hopefully this new study will help protect them, but only so long as Fife Council doesn't give permission for too many major supermarkets.
